Beyonce And Jay Z’s Daughter, Blue Ivy Carter Receives Her First Ever Grammy Nomination For ‘Brown Skin Girl’ VideoCarter family – Beyonce and Jay Z have another Grammy-nominated artist in their family after Blue Ivy received her first nomination in the Best Music Video category for “Brown Skin Girl”.

This was announced by Recording Academy, organisers of Grammy awards, marking her first-ever nomination from the awards at just 8 years old.

The song appeared on The Lion King: The Gift (Deluxe Edition) album and features vocals by Blue Ivy’s mom, Beyoncé, SAINt JHN and WizKiD. Blue Ivy’s contribution is heard in the intro.

The song previously earned Blue Ivy the NAACP Image award for Outstanding Duo or Group.

According to TMZ, Blue Ivy was not listed as a nominee when the nods were announced last month. However, the Recording Academy’s website has since been updated to include her name.

The best music video nomination is also awarded to the main and featured artists on the track, which includes Nigerian singer, Wizkid as well as the video’s director and producer.

However, SAINt JHN — who is featured on the track but was not in the video — was still not listed as a nominee.

“Brown Skin Girl” is a celebration of dark- and brown-skinned women as the video featured such women like Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Campbell and Kelly Rowland.

The song appears on Beyoncé’s “The Lion King: The Gift,” a 2019 album featuring songs inspired by “The Lion King,” where Beyoncé voiced the character Nala.

This year, Beyoncé released “Black Is King,” the visual companion of “The Gift” which included the video for “Brown Skin Girl.” This earned nine Grammy nominations this year including best music film.

Meanwhile, “Brown Skin Girl” has won Blue Ivy Carter a number of awards, including two Soul Train Music Awards, a BET Award and a NAACP Image Award. Ivy Carter is listed as a co-writer of the song alongside Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Wizkid, SAINt JHN and others.

The 63rd Grammy Awards will take place January 31 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
