Amotekun Corps Shot At Someone – Man Recounts Horrible Encounter With Security Outfit In Ibadan
A photographer has narrated his horrible experience in the hands of South West Security Network Agency, with the codename – Amotekun Corps, for wrongly detaining him and shooting at someone in his presence in Ibadan, Oyo state.
Sharing his experience in a Twitter thread, the man identified as Highfee (@highfee_nonii) disclosed how he was terrified by the activities of members of the Amotekun Corps he witnessed while heading out of his neighborhood to Airport Junction at Alakia in Oyo State on December 22.

So this afternoon, i had a horrible experience with the amotekun gang!

He said he saw people running from some members of Amotekun Corps, who were scattered on the street after chasing a man into the bush.
The photographer noted that the Amotekun Corps were doing ‘stop and search’ operation on roads in the state and were armed with guns.
The Twitter user tweeted that the man that was chased into the bush later came out but one of the Corps members ordered that he is shot.
The photographer expressed that the instructed was heeded to but that though the shot was fired, it missed the man who laid on the floor to avoid the bullet.

The Twitter user said a member of the Corps who appeared to be the boss saw that his face registered his displeasure at what the security operatives had done and ordered him to drive off.
He however said he couldn’t drive off swiftly as the road was too bad to allow him drive at a faster pace.
This angered the Amotekun operatives who then asked him to alight from his car. He said they were aggressive and one of them threatened to blow his head off.
He said they searched his trunk, saw his photography gadgets and that he had to explain what he does for a living to them.
The man concluded his series of tweets by asking why the security outfit should be allowed such power to intimidate citizens without control.

So its past 12( hot afternoon), i just left my church and heading out of the neighborhood to airport junction, alakia.
Then i see these guys carrying guns and all sort come out running towards my direction..okay whats going on? Should i park? Or run, so i don’t get caught up in whatever is going on but then, the road is terrible i can’t speed here!
Okadas are turning back, its a bend i cant see what’s happening ahead. Then one of the guys beckon to me to keep coming, bro how na? Im indecisive and just there.. then i moved, followed the bend so i could see straight ahead, see amotekun everywhere.
Apparently they have been chasing someone and the person was hiding in d bush, so they start throwing stones into the bush.. I’m still on my own navigating the bad potholes, then boom the man runs out of the bush. He was wearing a white polo and shorts..”shoot him down” “fire” was all i heard and boom they fired, missed the man but he is on the floor just ahead of me. Im in the car still driving o.
I went to ease my self in the bush” said the man, why then did you run asked your amotekun officer still slapping the man.
Then their oga saw my displeasure, i was still in my car driving o, tbh its a long and bad road, but then i dey watch live action too.. so it was a longer journey. [sic]
He added;
Then he said i should move, he saw my body language i wasn’t okay with how they treated that man, i said i was moving but the road was bad..bro! That was my offence.
He told the the officer in front to stop my car, said he’ll blow my head off in the car. How na? They left the man and all came to where i parked, all aggressive and angry human beings masked, armed to the teeth, wearing all sorts no uniforms, who are you guys first???
They said i should get down and open my boot, im just there shaking my head like why??? i open then they see all my photography gadgets, i explained i was coming from church and i was a photographer. They shut me up and started cursing me, saying “ogun will kill his mom” they scattered my boot and asked i open all my luggage one by one! Amotekun oooo, i was helpless, they shot at someone in my presence i wasn’t having it, i just wanted to go home!
The boss said i was underating them and that they arent the police that would take money from me, wait how did we even get to the money talk bro? How? I was going to explain my self but they kept shuting me up, asked me to enter my car and Run off! People stood from afar watching, what if? Amotekun now does stop and search? Amotekun has guns and come to the neighborhood? Amotekun with only cap as uniforms? Im scared for these monsters we have unleashed! [sic]
