‘You’re A Dumbkid’, ‘Shame On You Ma’, - Wizkid, Presidential Aide Lauretta Onochie Trade Words On Twitter

Wizkid, multiple-award winning singer, and Lauretta Onochie, special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media, have engaged in a heated war of words on Twitter.

The exchange of words stemmed from Wizkid’s comment about the President Muhammadu Buhari over the weekend where he referred to Buhari as an ‘old man’.

The ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner slammed Buhari for ignoring outcry from Nigerians about insecurity in the country but paying attention to issues in other country like America.

He was speaking on the back of renewed protests against the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) after a video showing a man allegedly gunned down in Delta state by operatives of the police unit went viral.

However, reacting to Wizkid’s statement on Tuesday night, Onochie described the singer as a “dumbkid” for exhibiting “crass ignorance and childishness” in the way he addressed the president.

She tweeted;

Its not disrespectful to call anyone old. Its the way and manner Ayo Balogun addressed the President that leaves a sour taste in the mouth. He exhibited crass ignorance, insensitivity and childishness. But hey, he’s a #DumbkidNotWhizKid When he grows up, he might learn respect.

In a swift reply, Wizkid slammed Onochie for being concerned about age while the lives of youths are constantly put at risk by SARS officials, saying she should be “ashamed of herself”.

The singer also wondered why the media aide would resort into name-calling when he was only demanding for a better governance in his country.

He wrote;

A 77-year-old man is not young ma.. You are a woman and a mother and kids are getting killed by police/sars and this is all you have to say? shame on you!!! shame on you!! I am a father and age has nothing to do with demanding for a better governance in my country!!

Due to the public outcry about SARS and its operation, Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), had banned SARS from undertaking routine patrols and search duties.
