Three Nigerians Arrested For Entering India Via Bangladesh Without Travel DocumentsThree Nigerian nationals have been apprehended for entering India via Bangladesh without travel documents.

According to local reports, during routine checking, officers from Karimganj district police stopped a vehicle coming from Tripura side on National Highway 8 along the Assam-Tripura border on Wednesday evening, September 23.

The three Nigerians were then detained as they failed to produce their passports and valid documents to enter the country, officials said.

They have been identified as Nnamdi Bernard Nwali, Prince Paul and Eze Collins.

During interrogation, they claimed that they entered India from Bangladesh via Tripura.

A police official of district said that the foreigners were on their way to Manipur from Tripura, stressing;

AS PER THEIR STATEMENT, THEY CAME FROM NIGERIA TO DELHI BEFORE THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN AND REACHED AGARTALA IN TRIPURA DURING THE LOCKDOWN RELAXATION PERIOD. THEY HAVE BEEN STAYING IN TRIPURA FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS. DURING CHECKING, THEY FAILED TO PRODUCE ANY VALID DOCUMENTS.

A case has been registered against the three under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946 read with Section 6 of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, officials said.
