RevolutionNow: Omoyele Sowore Challenges Burna Boy To Join Protest On October 1Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore has invited singer Burna Boy to join him in a protest scheduled for October 1, which is Nigeria’s 60th Independence Day anniversary.

The October 1 protest is planned to hold in all 36 states across Nigeria as well as in London, Sweden, Netherlands, San Francisco, New York, Washington DC, Germany and Canada against the state of the country.

Sowore, who is the convener or Revolution Now protest, made the call in a message he shared on social media on Tuesday, September 29.

In his post, he noted that Burna Boy is often compared to the late legendary afro-beat musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti for his style of music and his outspokenness.

Sowore said that Burna Boy is celebrated by foreign media as a revolutionary musician but he has not done any revolutionary act like Fela whom he is compared to.

He wondered why Burna Boy has never led a protest in Nigeria and seized the opportunity to invite the ’Wonderful’ singer to join him in the planned protest.

Sowore wrote;

Burna Boy, everywhere I turn people describe you as a revolutionary musician, the foreign media even celebrate you compare you to Fela Kuti, but I am yet to see you lead anyone to a police station carrying a coffin for head of state! Join October 1 Protest.
