Hollywood actor, Will Smith has denied that he gave singer August Alsina ‘blessing’ to have a love affair that ran into years with his actress wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
According to The Sun, Smith’s representative branded August’s statement as ‘wrong’, while a spokesperson for Jada denied the claims to Page Six, saying it is ‘absolutely not true’.
Social media users went bonkers after August, 27, told The Breakfast Club radio host, Angela Yee that he was in love with Jada, 48, and that he got Smith’s ‘blessing’ to go into a romantic relationship with his wife.
His statement confirmed widespread rumor that Smith and Jada are in an open marriage – a relationship where couples agree to be sexually intimate with other persons outside their relationship.
According to Page Six, it was Jada‘s 21 year old son Jaden who introduced her to August in 2015.
August said the two became very close, and holidayed together with the family in Hawaii a year later and they even attended the 2017 BET Awards together.
During the heartfelt interview, Alsina opened up to Yee saying;
I actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership, he gave me his blessing.
I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her.
I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it, so much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.
While August alleged that the affair lasted for years, it is not known what the time frame for this was.
Jada has been married to Will since 1997, they are parents to Jaden and daughter Willow, 19. Will has a son Trey, 27, from his first marriage to Sheree Zampino.
August was on the interview to promote his new album The Product III:stateofEMERGEncy, and has a new YouTube docuseries StateofEMERGEncy: The Rise of August Alsina.
