Just In: NCDC Confirms 543 New COVID-19 Cases As Total Figure Exceeds 38,000

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed that total COVID-19 figure has exceeded 38,000 nationwide after recording 543 new cases.

It would be recalled that on Monday, the country’s total coronavirus exceeded the 37,000 mark.

NCDC in a tweet on Wednesday has now announced that;

On Tuesday, there were 37,801 total cases, 15,677 recoveries and 805 death cases across the country.

With the latest toll, total cases have now increased to 38,344 with 15,815 recoveries and 813 casualties across the country.

Also, NCDC in its July 21 situation report has revealed that overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 218,223 to 247,825 as at July 21.

Meanwhile, Ekiti State governor and Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, has tested positive for the coronavirus disease.

The 55-year-old announced on his Twitter account on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 that he is ‘generally okay’ and receiving care.

He posted;

I am already self isolating at home and receiving the best of care from my medical team.

Fayemi also announced that he will be delegating critical tasks to his deputy, Adebisi Egbeyemi.

However, the governor said he will continue to do routine work from home.
