Edo Discharges 130 COVID-19 Patients, Death Toll Hits 40

The Isolation Centre for Coronavirus treatment at the Gbagada General Hospital, unveiled by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, May 1, 2020.

Edo State Government has announced the discharge of 130 COVID-19 patients from its isolation centres across the state.

The announcement was made by Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki at a press briefing on Thursday, in Benin city.

He said the latest figure of recovered patients brings the total number of recoveries in the state to 448, with 40 deaths recorded so far.

Obaseki said;

We have discharged 130 COVID-19 patients from our isolation centres across the state. This brings the number of recoveries to 448. We lost 1 (one) more person to the virus, with the total number of fatalities now 40. Let’s Stay Safe to protect the elderly in our state.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has so far announced 1,165 cases of Coronavirus in the Southern state.

Similarly, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday announced the discharge of additional 40 Coronavirus patients after they recovered from the virus.

He said 17 of the patients were female while 23 were male, including two foreigners.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that 19 of those discharged were from Onikan, seven from Gbagada, three from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, eight from Agidingbi and three from LUTH Isolation Centres.

In his words;
Good people of Lagos, today, 40 COVID-19 Lagos patients; 17 female and 23 male, including 2 foreign nationals were discharged from our Isolation facilities today to reunite with the society.
The patients; 19 from Onikan, 7 from Gbagada, 3 from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 8 from Agidingbi and 3 from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged after full recovery and testing negative to COVID-19.
Let us continue to adhere strictly to Physical Distancing and hand hygiene principles for a COVID-19 free Lagos.

As at Wednesday, Nigeria recorded 26,484 cases of the disease, 10,152 recovered persons and 603 deaths.
