Breaking: Total COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 36,000 As NCDC Confirms 653 New Cases

Nigeria’s tally of COVID-19 cases has risen to over 36,000 as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirms 653 new infections.

The centre made the announcement late Saturday via its Twitter handle, bringing total confirmed infections to 36,107 cases.

The new toll comes a day after total infections figure in Nigeria spiked to over 35,000 cases.

Also, successfully managed cases have risen from 14,633 to 14,938 total discharged patients.

However, death toll has risen from 772 confirmed yesterday to 778 casualties nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Plateau state, Noel Donjur has tested negative for COVID-19.

Hon. Donjur had tested positive for the virus few weeks ago which led him to go into isolation for treatment.

The Commissioner of Information and communication, Dan Manjang in statement, said;

This cheering news which was broken in the earlier hours of today (Saturday) by the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nimkong Ndam Lar, said Hon. Donjur was asymptomatic.

He stated that;

The government of Plateau State hereby wishes the Chief of Staff sustainable good health and gives God the glory for showing him great mercy.
