Breaking: Total COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 34,000 As NCDC Confirms 643 New Cases

Nigeria’s tally of COVID-19 cases has risen to over 34,000 as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirms 643 new infections.

Federal Ministry of Information and Culture on behalf of NCDC centre made the announcement early Thursday via its Twitter handle, bringing total confirmed infections to 34,259 cases.

The new toll comes two days after total infections figure in Nigeria spiked to over 33,000 cases.

Also, with the record of 207 newly discharged patients, there are now 13,999 successfully managed cases.

However, death toll has risen from 754 confirmed yesterday to 760 casualties nationwide.

Meanwhile, according to NCDC’s situation report, overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 186,309 to 199,016 as at July 14.

In other news, 53 laboratory has been activated for COVID-19 diagnostic laboratories  across 31 states in the country.

According to NCDC that made this known on its Twitter page, the activations are in line with the national strategy to continue to scale up diagnostic capacity for the pandemic.

The new labs include federal, state, private and GeneXpert labs.
