Hollywood Actress Keke Palmer Through Emotional Speech Convinces US National Guard To Kneel In Solidarity With Black Lives Matter Protesters

American actress and singer, Keke Palmer has through an emotional speech convinced US National Guard to kneel in solidarity with Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters in Los AngelesUS.

The Akeelah and the Bee actress joined protesters to call for justice for killing of George Floyd by a White Minneapolis police a week ago, when she came across some members of US National Guard who were deployed on the streets.

The US President recently ordered the military and other security outfits in the country to quell the outbreak of protests in different parts of America.

In a video which surfaced on the internet on June 2nd, the Nollywood actress could be seen speaking to some members of the National Guard, urging the uniformed men to join the peaceful protest against police brutality.

She spoke against President Trump for fanning the flame of racism through his actions, further creating a divide between races.

The Joyful Noise actress also talked about racism, police brutality and why everyone needs to work together to put an end to racial profiling and brutality.

Palmer said;

You have to understand what is going on. You have a president talking about using firearms against the people protesting. This is the message that we are seeing. You have to pay attention to what is going on.

We have a president that is trying to incite a race war. And when the borders are closed, we can’t leave.  You have people in here that need your help.

It would be recalled that a tweet made by President Trump on Friday was flagged for inciting violence after he addressed the issue of protesters, saying ‘when the looting starts, the shooting starts.’

Trump had come under fire for threatening to shoot protesters through the tweet.

Palmer then encouraged the members of the National Guard to march with her and other protesters saying;

This is when you can stand together with the community, with society, to stop the governmental oppression. Period. We need you.

March with us. March beside us. Get your people. March beside us. Let the revolution be televised. March beside us and show us that you’re here for us. Let us just do it. We start marching and you march with us.

The crowd, many of whom were surrounding the scene holding their phones recording the incident, started cheering, clapping and chanting, “March with us!”

A soldier then explained that they are not allowed to leave their duty post due to orders from superiors.

However, the uniformed men went on their knees as requested by some protesters, in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement.

The nationwide protests began after George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis officer, Derek Chauvin, who knelt on his neck for almost 9 minutes.
