“All Our COVID-19 Patients Have Been Discharged” – Sokoto Govt.

 has announced that all isolated coronavirus patients in the state have been discharged after full recovery.

The commissioner for health, Ali Inname, who spoke at a news conference, said that as at Friday, there was no patient at the state’s isolation centre.

He stated that the recovered patients were from eight local government areas of the state and that 85 percent of them were males.

The first case of COVID-19 was recorded in the state on April 19. Between then and May 23, the state confirmed 115 cases of the disease while 14 deaths were recorded.

The commissioner said the committee’s activities would continue as many test results are still pending, adding that 839 alerts received across the state and are being investigated.

He added that testing of suspected COVID-19 patients would continue, noting that any positive person detected would be taken to the isolation centre.

Inname urged residents to continue to patronise hospitals as service delivery has fully resumed in recognition of the fact that access to healthcare had declined due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The commissioner also advised residents of the state to abide by the safety guidelines of wearing face masks, constant washing of hands with soap, using sanitisers as well as observing physical distance.

Meanwhile, on June 5th 2020, 328 new confirmed cases and 10 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

Till date, 11844 confirmed cases, 3696 discharged and 333 deaths have been recorded across 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Cross Rivers remains the only state without a reported case of coronavirus since the outbreak of the virus in the country on February 29th.

The 328 new cases were confirmed in 14 states- Lagos(121), FCT(70),Bauchi(25), Rivers(18), Oyo(16), Kaduna(15), Gombe(14), Edo(13),Ogun(13), Jigawa(8), Enugu(6), Kano(5), Osun(2), Ondo(2).
