A Caucasian woman identified as Amy Cooper has come under attack for being racist by lying to police that an African American man threatened her life.

A video shared on Twitter by Melody Cooper, a sister to the man showed how he appealed to Amy Cooper to obey rules of New York’s Central Park rule, which states that dogs must be put leash while in the Ramble area of the park.

The Ramble is an area of the Central Park known for being home to several species of birds and a sightseeing location for bird lovers.

A rule in the park states that dogs are required to be on-leash at all times in certain areas, including the Ramble, and signs are posted in those areas alerting dog owners of the park’s policies.

The African American man who was also in the park and an avid bird watcher, began to film Amy Cooper who refused to obey the park rules.

The man politely asked the woman to put her dog on a leash, in order to protect the birds, but she refused.

Rather than obey, Amy Cooper said;

I’m going to call the police and tell them that there’s an African American man threatening my life.

Amy Cooper took her phone, called the police and told them exactly that. She went further by pretending to be in distress, crying and begging police to come to her rescue.

During the call, she choked her dog, making the animal let out a cry as though they were truly being attacked.
