US President Donald Trump
has threatened to ‘strongly regulate’ or close down social media platforms, a day after two of his tweets were labelled as ‘unverified.’

On Tuesday, the US president, who is known for being vocal on Twitter, posted that mail-in voting would lead to fraud and a “rigged election” in a forthcoming election.

Moments later, Twitter Inc. took an action against his tweets by labelling them with a warning sign and providing link for users to fact check, which reads “Get the facts about mail-in ballots.”

This is first time the social network giant would react to the US President’s activities on the social platform, despite calls by users to sanction the president over his provoking tweets.

In response, Trump fought back tweeting that social media platforms will either be strongly regulated or closed down.

Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen.

Trump retweeted his mail-in ballot statement, saying;

We can’t let large scale Mail-In Ballots take root in our Country. It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win. Likewise, Social Media. Clean up your act, NOW!!!!.

In a follow up tweet, the US President wrote;

President Trump is known for his frequent use of the social media platform, where he has over 80 million followers, to express his radical opinions, pass vital information and engage in ‘Twitter wars’ against oppositions.

    That’s very disrespectful of twitter to put fact checks on his tweets. Was that their nature before. Zuckerberge is trying to become something else like bill gates.
