Mother Suffering From Postpartum Depression Stabs Three Children Because She Thought She Had Coronavirus

A 28-year old mother, who may be suffering from postpartum depression, has allegedly killed her three daughters because she thought she was positive for coronavirus.

The woman identified as Joan Magistrado who lives in Basud, Camarines Norte province of Philippines stabbed her children aged: four-month old, 20 months old and 5 year old.

Police spokesperson, Malu Calubaquib, said after killing the three victims, the suspect also stabbed herself but survived the wound.

The victims and the suspect were immediately brought to Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital in Daet town, Camarines Norte for medical treatment, but the three girls were declared dead on-arrival.

In a statement released by the police, the suspect who may be suffering from post-partum depression she thought she was positive for COVID-19.

The full statement reads;

Three counts of parricide were filed by the Philippine National Police against the 28-year-old mom from Basud Camarines Norte who killed her 3 little kids several days ago.

The suspect is still confined at a hospital after she tried to commit suicide after hacking all her children. She admitted to the crime thinking that she is infected with the deadly Covid-19.

The husband of the suspect and her other relatives are very determined to press charges against her.

Basud police thinks the suspect could be suffering from postpartum depression.

Magistrado is still undergoing medical treatment, while investigations are ongoing as of press time.
