Coronavirus patient delivers twins

A 22-year-old COVID-19 patient has given birth to twins at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), it emerged on Tuesday.

The hospital broke the good news in a statement posted on its Twitter handle.

It said;

A team of LUTH doctors, anesthetics and nurses today Tuesday, May 19, 2020, delivered the fourth expectant mother  (22-year-old) with COVID-19 of twins a boy and girl.

Birthweight 3.2kg and 3.25kg respectively through a cesarean section. The mothers are doing well!.

LUTH also appreciated frontline staff for the achievement, and thanked the Federal Government, Lagos State Government, and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for their support.

In April 27, MDB reported that a 40-year-old woman successfully delivered a baby girl at the same teaching hospital.

LUTH also announced that a COVID-19 patient delivered a baby boy through caesarian operation on May 14th.

37-year-old COVID-19 delivered a baby boy at the hospital on May 12th.

As of May 18, Nigeria has recorded a total of 6,175 confirmed coronavirus cases. Lagos is the most affected state in the country with 2,624 confirmed cases.
