President Muhammadu Buhari

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity has said contrary to earlier reports,  President Buhari will not make any nationwide broadcast on COVID-19 updates on Monday.

On Sunday, Aliyu Sani, the national coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, during a television appearance on Channels TV disclosed that the President will hold a nationwide broadcast today, Monday.

However, in an official tweet posted on Monday afternoon, Adesina said the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, would instead update the nation during its daily debriefings.

He tweeted;

No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.

With the latest announcement by the president, the PTF on COVID-19 is expected to inform Nigerians on the next step as the first phase of the lockdown ease elapses today.
