Breaking: 313 New Coronavirus Cases, 89 Recoveries Recorded In Nigeria

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 313 new cases of coronavirus, 5 additional deaths and 89 recoveries on Sunday.

According to the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter, the cases were confirmed over the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s total cases to 7,839.

5 additional deaths bring the total death toll to 226 since the first case of the virus was reported on February 27.

The number of recoveries have also increased from 2,174 confirmed on Friday night to 2,263 as at today.

Also, according to NCDC’s situation report, total samples tested nationwide have increased from 43,328 to 44,458 as at May 23rd.

Meanwhile, thirty-one more COVID-19 patients have been discharged in Lagos after testing negative.

The state ministry of health made the announcement via a series of tweets on Sunday.

The patients, 12 females and 19 males, were discharged from the state’s isolation centres.

Giving a breakdown of the recoveries, the ministry said 13 persons were discharged from Onikan, 11 from Gbagada, five from Agidingbi, one from the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, and one from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) isolation centres.

With the latest announcement, a total of 738 COVID-19 recoveries have now been recorded in Lagos, which is the highest in the country.
