Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has reversed the decision to allow movements in the state on Easter Sunday.

Akeredolu announced this decision after meeting with the state’s chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He tweeted from his official Twitter handle on Saturday saying;

I’ve heard you all and your concerns on the need to #LockDownOndo. I have just concluded a meeting with CAN and we have resolved that the services will not hold again. Thanks for your concerns. Stay blessed and Happy Easter to all.

This comes after Nigerians though a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #LockDownOndo implored the Governor to restrict movement on Easter Day in order to avoid the spread of Coronavirus

Governor Akeredolu had earlier temporarily lifted the ban on religious gathering in the state, in order for Christian faithfuls to converge in churches on Sunday for the Easter celebration.

Meanwhile, Ondo state on Friday evening recorded its second confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Ondo state Commissioner for Health, Wahab Adegbenro, said the patient, a middle-aged man, lives at the Ijoka area of Akure, the state capital.

He stated that he had been transferred to the state Infectious Disease Hospital along Igbatoro Road, Akure, and all his family members are under quarantine.
