Coronavirus Toll In Nigeria Hit 238 As NCDC Confirms Six New Cases

Six new cases of Coronavirus have been reported in Nigeria, 2 in Kwara, 2 in Edo, 1 in Rivers and 1 in the FCT.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported this in a tweet on Monday evening, stating that there are currently 238 confirmed cases in the country. 

In a following tweet, the total number or discharged cases in the country has now increased from 33 reported on Sunday night to 35. 

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had on Sunday night confirmed eight new cases of Coronavirus in the country.

According to a tweet from the centre, there were 5 cases reported in Lagos, 2 in the FCT and 1 in Kaduna State.

NCDC also revealed in its tweet that there were a total of 33 Coronavirus patients in Nigeria that have fully recovered from the virus and have been discharged.

MeanwhilePresident Muhammadu Buhari on Monday ordered the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to release with immediate effect bags of rice seized from smugglers for distribution to the masses.

Zainab Ahmed, the minister of finance, budget and national planning made this known on April 6th while announcing the fiscal stimulus measures to be carried out by the federal government in response to COVID-19 pandemic.

The minister stated that the decision was made to solve the imminent risk posed to food security during the pandemic.
