Coronavirus Toll Hit 493 As NCDC Confirms 51 New Cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Friday night confirmed fifty-one new cases of Coronavirus.

According to a tweet by the centre, 32 cases were reported in Lagos, 6 in Kano, 5 in Kwara, 2 in FCT, 2 in Oyo, 2 in Katsina and one each in Ogun and Ekiti states. 

NCDC stated that as at 10:10 pm 17th April there are 493 confirmed cases of Coronavirus reported in Nigeria, 159 discharged and 17 deaths.

In a follow up tweet, the Centre revealed that Coronavirus has been confirmed in 19 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

On Thursday night, Nigeria had confirmed thirty-five new cases of Coronavirus – 19 in Lagos, 9 in FCT, 5 in Kano and 2 in Oyo state.

As at 10:20pm yesterday, there were 442 confirmed cases, 152 recoveries and 13 deaths nationwide.

With the new cases reported on Friday night, there are now 493 confirmed cases of Coronavirus reported in Nigeria, 159 discharged and 17 deaths.

Meanwhile, Rivers state discharged its second COVID-19 patient after testing negative to the virus.

Edo State Government also discharged five out of the 15 confirmed patients, who tested positive for Coronavirus in the state.

Three Coronavirus patients were discharged in Kaduna state on Friday evening after making full recovery.

Amina Mohammed-Baloni, commissioner for health in the state, broke the news without disclosing the identities of the patients.
