Coronavirus: Another Batch Of 23 Nigerian Returnees From Togo Arrive Lagos

Another batch of 23 Nigerian returnees from Togo Republic has arrived Seme Border Post in Lagos State on Sunday morning, Daily Trust reports. 

The 23 Nigerians, who came from different parts of the world, had landed in Lome on Ethiopian Airlines over two weeks ago.

An official of Port Health Services (PHS) in Seme, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that one of the 24 returnees that tested positive to COVID-19 was held back by Togolese authorities.

He said;

The remaining 23 were isolated for 14 days and laboratory examination conducted by the Togo health authorities showed that they are all negative.

The results from Togo are here with us. We have informed officials of Lagos State Ministry of Health and they are on their way to Seme border to evacuate the returnees to Yaba for more examination on COVID-19.

Daily Trust reports that 67 returnees from Ivory Coast who arrived Seme Border on April 8 in a luxurious bus with registration number Osun XA 240 EJG were placed in 14 days quarantine in Badagry where they are undergoing COVID-19 tests. 

SaharaReporters gathered that travellers were heading to Ejigbo, a town in the Osun State, when they were stopped. 

It would be recalled that 127 returnees from Ivory Coast had made it to Ejigbo, Osun state recently out of which 17 of them tested positive for COVID-19.

A government official said;

The 67 Nigerians resident in Ivory Coast arrived at Seme Border in Lagos on Wednesday, disclosing that most of the passengers in a luxurious bus with registration number Osun XA 240 EJG which conveyed them were women, children and few men.

Officials from Lagos State Ministry of Health (LSMOH) arrived Seme border post in three Toyota Coaster buses, transferring the returnees to isolation centres in Badagry for tests and quarantine.
