Hong Kong’s agriculture, fisheries and conservation department has confirmed that a dog had tested positive to the deadly coronavirus disease.

In a statement on February 28, a spokesperson of the department stated that dogs, cats and other pets owned by confirmed coronavirus patients must now undergo a 14-day quarantine.

CBS reports that the department explained that the dog was found to have a “low level” of the virus.

The pet, whose owner was infected with coronavirus, tested “weak positive” after its nasal and oral cavity samples were tested for COVID-19 virus. However, the dog has not shown any relevant symptoms
