Three Dead, Properties Destroyed In Abule Egba Pipeline Explosion

No fewer than three persons including a boy have been burnt to death and several properties razed down in the pipeline explosion that erupted on Sunday evening at Abule Egba, Lagos state.

Two of the deceased were male drivers, who were said to have just returned from a trip and were sleeping inside their trailers when the fire started.

While the deceased boy who was inside one of the nearby shops sleeping with his parents when the fire had started, reportedly ran for safety but could not make it out alive.

All the three dead bodies were evacuated into a Lagos State Emergency Health Service, LASEMA, pick-up van to be deposited at the morgue.

Further investigation has confirmed that the inferno was as a result of activity of pipeline vandals who allegedly ruptured the pipeline in a bid to steal fuel.

Other properties lost in the fire outbreak were 11 trucks laden with 40-feet containers and about 10 houses were also destroyed.
