A Medical Examiner in Chicago has on Wednesday revealed that the 21-year-old American rapper Juice WRLD died from accidental overdose of oxycodone and codeine on December 8, 2019.

The medical examiner in Cook County, Chicago made the announcement weeks after the rapper, whose real name is Jarad Anthony Higgins, suffered a medical emergency shortly after arriving at Chicago’s Midway International Airport in December on a private plane.

Juice WRLD was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

On the day of his death, Chicago police were called to the airport to assist federal authorities “in regards to a private jet arriving at the airport which contained a large amount of narcotics.”

The statement from police reads;

The plane’s occupants were found inside the airport with two loaded luggage carts. A search of the luggage found 41 bags of what was suspected to be marijuana, six prescription bottles of suspected liquid codeine and three firearms.

It was gathered that none of the plane’s occupants claimed ownership of the luggage.

The rapper had a seizure during the search after which police administered Narcan to the victim to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose but Juice WRLD did not survive the seizure.
