Fatoyinbo amidst protest has stepped down as head pastor of COZA. He made this known via a statement on Monday morning

The embattled pastor of the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has announced that he will be stepping down from his position as head Pastor.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday morning, Fatoyinbo said he would be “taking a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.”

The pastor’s latest decision follows public outcry and protests calling him to step down and address the rape allegations levelled against him by Photographer Busola, wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo. Busola made the allegations in a tell all interview with YNaija on Friday.

In the statement, Mr. Fatoyinbo said he took the decision after consulting with several spiritual leaders around the world and the leadership of COZA.

He wrote:

“The past few days have been very sobering on me I have taken time to seek spiritual counsel form Christian leaders around the world who feel very concerned about the ongoing report in the media.
“I have solicited their guidance on actions I should take that is honoring to our Lord Jesus Christ and the work he has called me to do.
“Drawing from their counsel and that of the leadership of COZA and owing to my love for Lord’s work and the sacred honor of my calling I have decided to take a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.”
