Obituary Of Nigerian Alleged To Be World's Oldest Man To Have Ever Lived Goes Viral
The obituary of a man who could be the (unverified) worlds oldest man to have ever lived, said to have died at the age of 170 (1848 – 2018) has gone viral.
The deceased identified as Pa Monday Agwalogu from Osisioma Ngwa local government area of Abia state, passed away in May 2018 after a brief sickness.

The man, alleged to be the oldest in his village before his death is to be buried next week Thursday and Friday (November 15th and 16th) in his community.

Nigerian internet users have been wondering if it is indeed possible that the man in the Obituary was aged 170, with some asking whether the family did the right calculation with the Supercentinarian’s age.

The worlds oldest person ever whose age was verified is Jeanne Calment (1875–1997) of France, who died at the age of 122 years, 164 days.

Last year, Indonesian man who outlived all his children, four wives and 10 siblings was alleged to be the world’s oldest man to have ever lived.

According to his identity card, Sodimejo — locally known as Mbah Gotho — was born on Dec. 31, 1870. He claimed to be 146 years old, which would have made him the world’s oldest person.

But there’s been some speculation around that, because Indonesia only started recording births in 1900. Officials later told BBC, his papers checked out.

However in Pa Monday Agwalogu’s case, no official investigation has been carried out to verify the age, so we probably will never know if the claims of the family are true or not.

It is interesting to note that in the list of the world’s top oldest 100 people who have ever lived, all Supercentinerians( a person who has lived above 110 years) between the ages of 122- and 114, no Nigerian is recorded.
