Oscar Pistorius’s Sentence Increased From 6 Years To 13 Years 5 Months

The Supreme Court Of Appeal, South Africa has increased Oscar Pistorius’s sentence for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp from 6 years to 13 years 5 months.

The former Olympic and Paralympic sprinter murdered Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria on valentine’s day, 2013. He claimed the act was an accident and He mistook her for an intruder.

The prosecutor called it a deliberate act after the two had an argument and appealed his previous sentence of 6 years as too lenient.

The family’s spokeswoman said:

‘this is justice for Reeva. We hope this is the end of the road and that everyone can move forward’.
