– President Buhari today presented 40 year old Aishah Ahmad as the new deputy governor of the CBN
– Mrs Ahmad an astute bank is to resume work ‘immediately’ she is confirmed by the Senate
– She is to a replace a former deputy Governor who retired early this year

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday presented Mrs Aishah Ahmad to the Senate for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). She is to replace a former Deputy Governor, who retired early this year.

According to a statement by the special adviser media to the president, Femi Adesina, in accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, President Buhari urged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately.

Also Buhari has written to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of the appointment of members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN.

The statement said they are to replace “four members, whose tenure expires at the end of this year.”

Those nominated include:

Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju; Dr Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi; Dr Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr Asheikh A. Maidugu.

“After Senate clearance, the new members of the Monetary Policy Committee are to resume duties next January,” the statement added.

New 40 year old CBN Deputy Governor Aishah Ahmad

Prior to her appointment, Mrs Ahmad, 40, was the chairperson, Executive Council, Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) and Head Consumer Banking at Diamond Bank.

She was born on October 26, 1977.

Mrs. Ahmad is an indigene of Niger State.

She is married to Abdallah Ahmad, a retired brigadier-general. They have two sons.

Her educational achievements include: an MSc in Finance and Management at Cranfield School of Management (UK), an MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Finance at the University of Lagos; she also holds a graduate degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja.
