President Muhammadu Buhari will be away for 10 days to the United Kingdom from Monday 6th of June 2016 for medical reasons.

Femi Adesina, Special adviser to the president on Media and publicity, made  this known in a statement issued on Sunday.

This is coming barely three days after news cropped up that the president was seriously ill.

The presidency, however, insisted that Buhari was hale and hearty.

With this, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo would step in as the Acting President within the period of the President’s absence.

The statement reads:

“President Muhammadu Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London on Monday June 6th to rest.

“During the holiday, he will see an E.N.T. specialist for a persistent ear infection. The President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated.

“Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.”

Why the initial denial though? Anyway we wish him speedy recovery.

Just few days ago, we heard our honest Adeshina say that PMB is “healthy as a fiddle”? The contradictory state in which this administration is founded flabberwhelms my comprehensive crescendo. Phoney statements are made with brazen impunity. When the head is sick, how can the other parts of the body function in whole? what a shame!
