Before now I have always wanted to speak up about depression and how we perceive it as a a society but I never really got around starting.
However, with this whole Teebillz issue, it exposes how shallow and fickle minded many of us are and how real depression is in our society even though we try to trivialise it.
Guys depression is real. I have been there. I may not have tried to commit suicide but I know its a dark, lonely place. The worse part is the fact that many people don’t understand it, and rather than be supportive they call you weak. As a result many people keep to themselves what they are going through and only a few are lucky enough to have friends or family who despite not really understanding what depression really feels like help them work to get out of it.
Hence forth I will do my best as an individual and media person using my little voice to educate people on depression and reach out to those going through it who open up and help them.
As for the situation at hand I am really not bothered about the details of Teebillz and Tiwa’s relationship(because there are always two sides to a story) but I am greatly concerned about Teebillz pain and state of mind(because I understand depression ). I pray God sees him through this hard phase and he emerges stronger.
That a person is depressed doesn’t make them weak. We just deal with things differently and we all have our strength and weaknesses.
Depression is real guys(I cannot over emphasize this), and it is among us. You don’t have to understand it to be kind to anyone going through it.
