Veteran Actor Pete Edochie Aka Okonkwo Turns 70 Today

Veteran actor, Pete Edochie born on 7 March 1947 is 70 today.

Pete Edochie was a very vital part of my growing up as I always looked forward to watching him play the iconic ‘Okonkwo’ in things fall apart. He was also very signifiant in the early stages of the development of Nollywood and is one of Africa’s most talented actors.

Also know as ‘Ebubedike’, Pete Edochie came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best selling novel, Things Fall Apart.

He is a practicing Catholic and hails from Anambra State, in the Eastern part of the country.
