What You Should Know About The New York Bomb Suspect – Ahmad Khan Rahami

Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old man wanted in connection with bombings this weekend in New York and New Jersey, was taken into custody Monday after he was shot by police officers.

He was captured after shooting police officers in Linden, New Jersey.The officers shot had non-life-threatening injuries, NBC News reported.

This is what we know from officials so far:

-Rahami is a U.S. citizen born in Afghanistan Jan. 23, 1988.

-He is 5-feet-6 and weighs around 200 pounds.He has brown eyes, brown hair and brown facial hair — though his head could be shaved.

-Rahami was taken into custody Monday, after being shot in a gun battle with police in Linden, New Jersey; he was taken to a hospital, and two officers sustained nonlife-threatening injuries, authorities said.

-The FBI said that Rahami was not on a U.S. terrorist watch list or NYPD list.Earlier, New Jersey State Police said Rahami was thought to have been driving a 2003 blue Honda Civic with New Jersey plate number D63EYB.

-A senior law enforcement official told the News a key piece of evidence to Rahami was a fingerprint found on one of the unexploded devices.

-Authorities said in news conference Monday that they are “not actively” seeking anyone else at this time.

-The New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill said police will focus on other parts of the investigation including whether or not he worked alone and what his motivations were.

-Officials said that Rahami has not made any statements in custody. FBI officials said there is no indication that a “terror group” was involved.

-A senior law enforcement official told the public that authorities believe Rahami is the man seen in surveillance footage taken Saturday night in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
