To the delight of customers and members of the general public who reside in the Gbagada area of Lagos State, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) on Monday, June 13, 2016 officially opened a branch for business in the area.

The grand opening held at the new branch which is located at Number 42, Diya Street, Ifako Gbagada Street, Lagos and had in attendance Gbagada community leaders, representatives of estate resident associations, customers, members of the press, as well as staff of FCMB.

Delivering the welcome address at the event, FCMB’s Executive Director, Business Development, Mr. Adam Nuru re-iterated that opening the Gbagada branch is in line with FCMB’s commitment to extend its reach and make its operation accessible to more customers.

According to him, “For more than 30 years, ‎FCMB has been a key player in Nigeria’s financial landscape, making significant contributions to the economy and overall well-being of the country. Opening this branch is in further demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that more Nigerians get a chance to benefit from our award-winning customer service and robust suite of banking and financial solutions”.

Before the official opening on June 13 2016, in responding to questions on the opening of the new FCMB branch, the Vice President, Branch Management and Trade Services at First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Mr. Oluwakayode Adigun had said,

“We are pleased to establish a presence in the neighbourhood, as part of our continued retail drive. This is not just another branch as each of FCMB’s new branches brings with it, something special in terms of structure, aesthetics and above all, the excellent customer experience, to be provided by an excellent team of service professionals, who will not only serve you in the traditional manner, but also assist with mobile and internet banking registration and basic tutorials. The branch also offers numerous self-service options such as cash depositing and withdrawal ATMs, and self-service terminals for routine requests and transfers .”

FCMB said it plans to grow this year substantially in retail banking by adding over 600,000 customers to the existing 3.2 million at the start of the year. Retail banking revenues and profitability are also expected to grow strongly in spite of the challenging economic environment. Smart branching and technology will play an equally important role in attaining this objective. The Group Chief Executive/CEO, Mr. Ladi Balogun said,
