‘You Are A Big Liar’ – Former CBN Governor Sanusi Blasts Diezani

Deziani, Sanusi

The former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN governor and Emir of Kano, Mohammed Lamido Sanusi has  called the embattled former petroleum resources minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke a liar over claim that he (Sanusi) came to lobby her for help over his interest in African Development Bank, AfDB presidency but came up with $20bn missing oil fund allegation because he lost out in getting the job.

Sanusi, speaking with Sunday Telegraph, said Diezani, battling breast cancer, was being economical with the truth in her interview with thebossnewspaper.com on his interest and how he lost the opportunity to head the continental financial institution.

Sanusi said it was not a hidden fact he expressed interest in the AfDB job when the position became vacant. He noted that while he expressed lack of interest in a second term as CBN Governor, he wrote a letter to former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Senate and also discussed his AfDB ambition extensively with the then Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke.

“It is not something that is hidden that anybody who is seeking that job must get the support of his country. Knowing fully that I went to the President with my intention and before I made the exposure of the $20bn oil deal, Jonathan clearly indicated his support for me. He even directed Hassan Tukur, his Principal Private Secretary to write to African heads of state. So, what is Diezani saying? One can now see that she is lying,” Emir Sanusi told the newspaper.

He added that it was on record that a week after he exposed the matter, Jonathan wrote a letter withdrawing his nomination as Nigeria’s candidate and replaced him with then Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, who later won the election.

“My suspension came a week after I made the disclosure of the missing monies, precisely on February 20, 2014. As at that time, I was the only candidate from Nigeria gunning for the AfDB job, but you know one cannot have it when he is suspended. My passports were all confiscated. Jonathan in trying to punish me denied me of the job and replaced me with Akin Adesina, who is my personal friend,” he added.

However, Sanusi said contrary to Diezani’s submission, he affirmed that there were issues to be cleared around the subsidy regime under Jonathan.

“The question that remains for Diezani to answer is: Was there $6bn said to have been remitted to NPDC which they denied? As for that denial, who is holding that money? What happened to the inflated N6 per litre kerosene subsidy? Where is the money said to be paid to that effect? All these questions formed the basis upon which I was suspended and denied the AfDB job,” he stated.

On its début edition, The boss online newspaper quoted Diezani as saying Sanusi must have been angry with her because of the way President Jonathan administration treated him.

Deziani said in her interview:

“In all honesty, he (Sanusi) was being blocked from seeing the President by some of Oga’s people (presidential aides) but it had nothing to do with me. I was the one who even told Oga about the development and Oga said he would meet him in London on one of his trips. Unfortunately my boss fell ill and was rushed to King Edward Hospital and the meeting was aborted,” she said.

“Sanusi and I had been friends. There was no way I would have done anything bad to him. He even came to my house to inform me about his interest in heading the African Development Bank and we discussed for about two hours. I promised to support him and I spoke to Oga about it. We were together on the Reconciliation Committee that looked into the accounts of NNPC. Yes there were gaps but not on the alarming scale being circulated. Markafi (former Governor of Kaduna State) did a thorough job. You know he is a very sound accountant.”

But the monarch reminded the former minister that what he did was neither a personal war nor was it targeted at anybody.

He declared that if anybody feels affected by the revelation, he or she should come forward and clear their name.

“Certainly, there is nothing personal. It is our nation’s money we are talking about. One cannot take away the treasury and expect to go scot-free. He must answer the basic questions. Everyone is aware that I was punished by former President Jonathan for exposing the missing $20bn. The punishment after suspending me from the CBN and taking away my passports was also blocking me from becoming the AfDB President. But Allah in his mercy today has given me something much more better than that,” Sanusi stated.

He expressed sympathy for Diezani’s health condition and wished her quick recovery. He, however, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to get to the bottom of the matter.

      You just don’t get it…
Is it because is an Emir that his words are true?
Report shows powerful men lie to protect their status and will go though great lengths to make sure their image is sparkling clean. That’s a fact, I don’t do guess games or be sway by emotionally mumbo-jumbo by these people, I deal with facts and hard evidence, and what we have right here my friend is a tale of he says, she says, it all hearsay.
it’s because he knows the most hated being in Nigeria right now is Alison Madueke, and people find it hard to believe her, cos the media as gone through a great deal of length to tarnish her image, and all he needs to do is to deny the meeting , people will see her as a liar.
The moment I saw that Alison’s article, I know the Emir and his PR team will go on a damage control mode, so I’m not surprised at all.
And all the “I wish her quick recovery” is all mind games, a great PR touch was obviously there, I don’t buy it a bit. I’ve seen these kinda move been played by powerful men and celebrities, so he should Preach it to the choir. Moji can do a better job than that, she knows how PR works, they are skilled to manipulate your emotions.

My guts/ my spider sense is tingling says, all these is just a work of a jealous, aggrieved man, who is hurt by someone and he’s getting revenge on her, because of his ego and he feels he’s better than her, and the only reason she’s in the position she was then, was because she’s super close with the president. Now it’s too late to go back, so he’s doing all he can to cover his flaws.
Truth is, if the president had helped him achieve his goal back then, he wouldn’t have accused them of wrongdoing. Nigerians only cry foul/wolf when things ain’t going their way.
      Don’t be fooled…

Why can’t people let this woman be, if they’ve got proof, they should present it, not all the talk talk talk. I’m so sick and tired of all the talk from men with Sanusi’s status, I believe they should know better, but they just like every news stand panel of discussant. They’re all bore me out, cos they sound like a broken record.
Men like Sanusi will never admit he once asked Madison for help, cos of his ego and status in the society, and now that is an Emir, he can never admit the truth.

Truth is if you need an audience or help from the president, you have to go through someone close to him, and even the Emir himself agreed he spoke with some people like the finance minister, but I think because of all he said about Madison Madueke, also being an antagonist to her In the past and because of who he his right now, it will be a shame to someone of his caliber in his culture/Society, his throne, cos he’s a symbol of respect/Power to all the Hausas.
Talk is cheap, anyone can say anything they feel like saying. It’s only when people are under oath, the truth comes out. I’m not talking the kinda oath you take in a court, cos that’s fake, I’m talking that kinda oath you take to speak the truth, nothing but the truth, the whole truth, in front of Amadioha/Ogun(The god of thunder), and you swallow all the necessary concussion and wish evil on yourself if you lie, that’s the real oath.

As for the critic, tell me I don’t get it
Everybody can tell you how to do it, but they never did it
Now these Ni**a’s is mad, oh they call me a camel
But I master the drought, what the fu@k, I’m an animal
    Half-man half-mammal
My sign is a sag, this is just what I plan to do
    Hoe don’t be mad

I understand you position, Bomi. even murderers on CI that made the 911 call are represented by defence attorneys who have their own side to apparent murder. Sanusi before being Emir has always being a whistle blower. And up till now, what he has been blowing whistles about hasn’t been investigated. instead he has been getting punished for it. And you come to tell us he
is jealous and wants to hit back. whatever. before he because “man of power” he has always had his voice. There are men in this country that are just different from the norm. let’s keep watching the movie. we will come back to this same blog when the film finish and we know the koko.

      Whistle blower my foot!!!

It’s obvious you’re one of those clowns that talk talk and talk with no facts and hard evidence, no pun intended. When you talk, back it up with facts.

And ni**@ please when you use certain words, checkout the definition before posting.
You used #WhistleBlower to qualify Sanusi?
Did you even Google the word and check the history of whistle blower before the 60’s till date?
These people back it up with enough hard evidence. Check the list of whistle blower on Wikipedia and see what they all have in common.
From my opinion Emir Sanusi is a bad bele, who’s accusations have not yield any fruitful results, no proof, not even an iota of truth, all baseless accusations, cos if the FG can back up his accusations with facts they would have presented it for all to see.
Even the UK crimes commission couldn’t charge Alison to court with all the buzz they created about her arrest. The EFCC ransacked her house and came up with nothing, nada, absolutemente nada.
And please don’t come online and tell me it’s in the papers, spare me the line, cos Nigeria press have proven to be lazy, dubious and hardly present a full package report, they only face the direction that sell papers, the one direction confused Nigerians wanna see, they all give y’all half baked truth, and instead of y’all to ask for the full proof, the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, y’all just consume and digest every stupendous report like a spoilt brat who refuse to use his brain. It’s high time y’all wakeup and ask for your right, cos a full package news is your right.
Everyone in media houses today only talk about the money, how to twist a news article to get more views, followers, to sell papers, so if you’re gullible and can’t use your sixth sence, you just fall prey.

So please when you come online and get all bragadocious by using certain words to qualify someone you support, just to impress blog readers, do your research properly.
